Artist Statement
This piece is an exploration of gesture, rhythm, and the tension between control and release. A length of string placed on the encaustic plate formed a single, central threadlike line—a spine running through the composition, a trace of something no longer there.
The work holds a sense of kinetic energy: lines loop and sway across the surface like a dance half-remembered. Translucent layers of wax, earthy tones, and fluid gestures come together to create a feeling of suspended motion—as if the piece is still unwinding before your eyes. It is both a record of presence and a meditation on release. A moment held, and then allowed to move on.
