Artist Statement
This work celebrates the courage of becoming—piecing together identity from fragments and standing unapologetically in one’s truth. Through layers of wax, ripped papers, and text, a gender-fluid figure emerges from the shadows, no longer hiding. The phrase “I can do this” appears on their face, a quiet mantra of self-affirmation.
Here, light is not just illumination—it’s witness.
