Artist Statement
Inspired by David Bowie’s song “A Better Future,” this work echoes both personal longing and collective urgency. Bowie challenged societal norms and helped shape a more inclusive world—especially for LGBTQ+ communities. His legacy is one of courage, creativity, and cultural transformation.
Through layered encaustic and collage, A Better Future holds my hopes and fears for my children. It calls on us to imagine—and demand—a world where they can live with more freedom, compassion, and possibility than we’ve known.
