Artist Statement
Layers of Time explores memory, connection, and place. I digitally merged a historic family photograph of a wedding party with my own present-day image, taken at the same location on the shores of Berford Lake on the Bruce Peninsula. By layering past and present, I invite viewers to reflect on the quiet persistence of place and the traces we leave behind. This work is both a meditation on personal history and a recognition of our shared human experience—how landscapes hold stories, and how time folds in on itself, allowing us to briefly touch what came before. Though I never knew the people in the original photo, I’ve stood where their photographer once stood. I’ve walked where they walked.
