Artist Statement
The word accretion means “the process of growth by the gradual build up of layers.” This is the perfect way to describe my painting process. I used the encaustic accretion technique to emulate the tactile qualities found in nature—the intricate textures of Queen Anne’s Lace or perhaps a snowflake—adding depth and a sensory dimension to the artwork.
