Artist Statement
I haven’t outgrown the childhood habit of picking up little treasures such as pine cones, leaves, or chestnuts during my daily walks. Like many artists, I find these objects to be inspiring. I also find that this action creates connection to the earth. It encourages me to slow down, be present, and appreciate details that might often go unnoticed in the hustle and bustle of daily life. The encaustic foraging vessels were created to sit close to the front door to display an ever-changing collection of ephemera from nature.
