Edith’s Window was reclaimed from the log cabin that she and her husband built by the lake on her family’s farm. We inherited this property and I have often thought of Edith in this place that she loved and where she spent her summers. Painting with encaustic on glass I had to slow down as the glass holds the heat longer than other substrates. I needed to keep in mind the translucency of the glass. The finished piece works equally well hung in a window illuminated by sunlight as it does against a wall. Installed in the gallery window, the urban scene and tree outside blend with the rural scene.
