Artist Statement
Wasp nests are sculptures from nature. Paper wasps build their nests by creating a paper-like pulp and forming intricate layers of precisely crafted hexagonal cells. Although they appear fragile, these nests are surprisingly strong. I formed an encaustic vessel to display the wasp nest, honouring and complimenting its natural beauty.
